According to the Ilca Class Rules the boat may be sailed by either one or two people, though it is rarely sailed by two. The design, by Bruce Kirby, emphasizes simplicity and performance. The dinghy is manufactured by independent companies in different parts of the world, including Ilca Performance Europe (Americas and Europe), Performance Sailcraft Australia (Oceania) and Performance Sailcraft Japan<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">The Ilca is one of the most popular single-handed dinghies in the world. As of 2012, there are more than 200,000 boats worldwide. A commonly cited reason for its popularity is that it is robust and simple to rig and sail in addition to its durability. The Ilca also provides very competitive racing due to the very tight class association controls which eliminate differences in hull, sails and equipment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">The term &#8220;Ilca&#8221; is often used to refer to the Ilca 6 (the largest of the sail plan rigs available for the Ilca hull). However there are two other sail plan rigs available for the Ilca6 hull and a series of other &#8220;Ilca&#8221;-branded boats which are of completely different hull designs. Examples include the Ilca 2 and Ilca Pico. The Ilca 6, Ilca 7 and Ilca are three types of &#8216;Ilca&#8217; administered by the Ilca.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">The Ilca&#8217;s hull is made out of GRP, Glass Re-enforced Plastics. the deck has a foam layer underneath for strength.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n\t<div id=\"col-1984042809\" class=\"col medium-5 small-12 large-5\"  >\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"
