The 1^st time in the county sailing history, 2016 “Optimist” Class Federation Cup races were organized on September 8-9, 2016 with initiative of the Sailing Federation of Azerbaijan and participation of international experts.

The races were accompanied with high security services and 3 supervisory motorboats. More than 20 athletes took part in these 2 days races.  The following 3 sailors successfully finished races:

• 1st place: Selcan Abbas.
• 2nd place: Farid Mammedzadə.
• 3rd place Ismail Kaimov.

Also, Javid Karimov became the 1^st in Laser class races.
